VILLAGE HALLS TRAINING
Several years ago we were asked to provide training for a group running Vllage Halls and Community Centres. Following further discussions we developed a bespoke package covering the essential topics that we all felt needed to be covered. This package evolved into a 'Managing Community Buildings' course, which has received accreditation from the Open College Network.

ACRE (Action for Communities in Rural England), the umbrella body for all Rural Community Councils, has adopted the course as national training for Village Hall Advisers. The subjects that are covered include: -
• Governing Documents (constitutions, deeds etc.)
• Licensing (including raffles, tombolas, bingo etc.)
• Health & Safety
• Property Management
• Insurance
• Hiring
DRCC's enthusiastic and experienced staff regularly deliver the course on ACRE’s behalf at its headquarters in Cirencester. Ten delegates from across England successfully completed the course in 2008, with a further eleven achieving success in 2009. Successful candidates are awarded OCN certificates in recognition of their achievements. Further training courses were held during 2010 and we hope to arrange additional training during 2011.
We will be pleased to deliver the course to any interested group at reasonable cost, either as a complete package or as selected elements. Please contact Lesley Millgate to discuss your specific requirements.
