ONE VOICE NETWORK

One Voice Network (OVN) was established in 1996 to bring together County Durham's voluntary and community organisations, and to 'examine the practical benefits of working together'. The OVN Voluntary Sector Academy works with partners to develop the workforce of the voluntary and community sector, and to promote it as a learning provider and source of information and expertise.
OVN manages and coordinates ChangeUp-funded projects, which are improving the infrastructure available to the voluntary and community sector. It promotes and develops the County Durham Compact, which sets out principles for a fair relationship between statutory organisations and voluntary and community groups. The network keeps on top of local governance changes to ensure that the voluntary and community sector has a presence in local policy-making processes. OVN also stages networking events, including the popular One Voice Network annual conference.
The One Voice Network Secretariat works on behalf of all of the voluntary and community sector organisations that make up the One Voice Network. It is managed through a Steering Group of representatives from the Network, DRCC provides accountable body status, together with management and support for the staff of the Secretariat on behalf of the Network. The aim of the OVN is to unite voluntary and community groups across County Durham by examining and developing practical ways of working together.
