MEET THE FUNDER EVENT FOR TOWN AND PARISH COUNCILS

Despite challenging weather conditions, our Meet the Funders event for Town and Parish Councils held at Bowburn Community Centre on 26 November 2010 was well attended. More than 50 delegates came along to share good practice and learn more about Parish and Community Planning.
The event included three formal presentations:
Jo Laverick, Executive Director of DRCC spoke about the Big Society and the important role that community planning will play. Please click here to download a copy of Jo's presentation (in PDF format).
Paul Dodsworth and Stuart Dunn of Coxhoe Parish Council explained why Coxhoe Parish Council had undertaken a Parish Plan in 2005, and why the Parish Council is now considering refreshing its Plan. Please click here to download a copy of the Coxhoe presentation (in PDF format).
Gavin Scott, a Planner with Durham County Council, highlighted the support that is available from Durham County Council for any group that is considering undertaking a Community Led Plan (Parish Plan). Please click here to download a copy of Gavin's presentation.

Following the formal presentations the delegates broke into lively workshop groups to discuss topics such as Implementing Your Plan, Funding Your Plan and Keeping the Plan Alive. A summary of the feedback from the workshops will be added to this page shortly.
Over lunch delegates had the opportunity to exchange hints, tips, and share good practice. A number of key regional and national funders were also on hand to advise about the support that may be available for projects identified in a Community Led Plan.
Feedback from the event has been good with several Town and Parish Councils requesting further information or assistance with their own Community Led Plan.
