Originally from an East Riding of Yorkshire farming family, Sandra has lived and worked in a variety of countries. For the past 15 years, Sandra has been based at Cotherstone in Teesdale, having moved there from Madrid.
Sandra describes herself as 'a Jack of all Trades, and Master of None.' She has been involved in running her own companies for many years, including Childcare, Retail, Property Development, Marketing, Public Relations, Corporate Hospitality and Catering. Sandra is currently the Company Secretary of a development company in Chesterfield that belongs to one of her sons.
Sandra was employed by DRCC for over 9 years until March 2008, as a Community Development / Engagement Officer working mainly in Teesdale. As part of her role, Sandra worked with 12 different communities to produce Parish Plans, and also helped Village Halls with events and activities to celebrate the Millenium.
In retirement, Sandra now sits on the North Pennines AONB Board for the 'Living North Pennines' project. She is a member of the Teesdale Area Action Partnership Board, leading on their Older Peoples Task and Finish Group. Sandra is the Development Officer for the Mid Teesdale Project Partnership, and runs the Thursday Group for blind, deaf and disabled people of the dales. She also supports Teesdale Day Clubs as a volunteer and consultant on funding applications, having been a past Chair of the Association. At the local level, Sandra is a founder member of the 'Cotherstone Clowns' who raise money to support local community groups. She also finds time to organise the National Garden Scheme village open gardens, and the Teesdale Heritage Open Days in conjunction with English Heritage.
