JO LAVERICK - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
.jpg)
Jo Laverick has been Executive Director of Durham Rural Community Council since 2004. She has been a practitioner and manager, working with communities, for over thirty years. Her career has been shaped through direct work with individuals and communities in disadvantaged areas of the North East, as well as developing and managing large scale programmes and initiatives in both the public and voluntary sectors.
Her early career began in North Tyneside, providing support services for young people at risk of being taken into care or custody, and in developing child care resources. Jo has been working with rural communities since 1995, beginning in Northumberland where, as Assistant Director of the Community Council of Northumberland (now Community Action Northumberland), she developed and managed community based approaches to managing EU funding for locally generated initiatives. After a period working with the regeneration team at Berwick Borough Council, Jo moved to the Regional Development Agency, One NorthEast, where her responsibilities included Fisheries, Food & Drink, Market Towns, the regional Rural Action Plan, and Sustainable Tourism.
Jo shares her time between Durham and Berwick and is a mother to two children, both of whom are studying at school and university in the North East.
