QUALITY PARISH BURSARY - LANCHESTER PARISH COUNCIL'S EXPERIENCE
.jpg)
'When I was appointed as Clerk to Lanchester Parish Council in 2008, the Members were very clear of their desire to attain Quality Parish Status. This presented two small problems:
-
I needed to successfully complete my CiLCA qualification.
-
I needed to complete and submit the portfolio of evidence for Quality Status
The Quality Parish Council Bursary scheme administered by Durham Rural Community Council offered a grant of £500 to help towards the costs of pursuing Quality Status.
The Bursary scheme was extremely easy to apply for and administered quickly and efficiently. In addition to the amount received in cash, help, advice and support were also offered in other areas necessary to achieve Quality Parish Status.
The Bursary scheme proved a great help as it allowed the Council to very quickly establish a series of newsletters and Annual Reports helping towards printing and distribution costs.
Sometimes it’s the quick easy hits that have the most effect, and the Bursary scheme certainly gave us the opportunity to progress.
