KAIROS. SHERBURN HOUSE
Kairos is a supported accommodation project for men and women over the age of 18, whose use of alcohol has affected their lives in a detrimental way. Kairos is the Greek word for 'time out'.
The centre has facilities to cater for up to eight people. Each resident is provided with a six month occupancy agreement that can be extended for up to two years. This allows each individual sufficient time to participate fully in the programme, before eventually going back to independent living.

DRCC's long running and highly successful Hands on Health programme began working at Kairos in the summer of 2009. All 8 residents (male and female) participated in the course, and everyone was extremely keen and motivated. All thoroughly enjoyed cooking the healthy meals, trying out new recipes, and sitting down together to eat.
Due to the success of the first course, Hands on Health was asked to return, in order to work with a new group of residents. This time the group consisted of 8 male residents. Once again the sessions proved highly successful, delivering significant benefits for everybody.
Hands on Health will be returning to Kairos later in 2010 to deliver further sessions.
