RUSSELL HAYWARD - BUSINESS MANAGER

Russell originally joined Durham Rural Community Council in 2006 to manage delivery of the Rural Social & Community Programme (RSCP).  He currently manages all Business Services within the organisation, including Finance, Budget Management, IT and our website, and is also our Company Secretary.  Russell is an accredited ACRE Quality Standards Peer Reviewer at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

Russell has a wealth of experience drawn from work in the private, public and voluntary sectors.  He began his working career in banking during which time he completed the ACIB Banking Diploma.  He then returned to full-time education achieving a BA Honours Degree in Geography at Newcastle University.  After graduation, Russell joined the Rural Development Commission delivering grant programmes to support essential rural services including transport, village shops and community buildings.  More recently he worked for the Countryside Agency covering rural services, housing, transport, and latterly leading on delivery of the Market Towns Initiative and Vital Villages programmes across the north-east region.

Away from work Russell enjoys travel, counting Scandinavia, the Arctic and Patagonia amongst his favourite locations.  His other interests include gardening and photography.
