LOCAL ACTION GROUP
The Local Action Group (LAG) is made up of volunteers from across the area. Many members initially became involved in a shadow Local Action Group to help develop 'Rural Roots', the LEADER Local Development Strategy.
Following approval of the strategy, the shadow LAG evolved into a full LAG, with responsibility for the overall direction of the initiative across East Durham. LAG members also act as advocates, promoting LEADER to their partnership organisations and networks.
LAG members bring a diverse range of skills and experience to the table, and provide crosss-ector representation. LEADER rules require that no more than 50% of members may be drawn from the public sector, ensuring that the remaining membership is widely drawn from across the third sector, community groups, social enterprise and private enterprise.
Please click on the names below for more information about current members of the Local Action Group:
Ian Bolton (Chair)
Jeff Corrighan (Vice-Chair)
The LAG meets regularly to review progress and the overall direction of the programme. A smaller Management group meets more frequently to discuss project ideas that come forward for consideration.
The LAG holds an Annual General Meeting to elect officers, and an annual celebration to promote LEADER to a wider audience.
If you wish to get involved in the Local Action Group, please contact Louise Johnson, the East Durham LEADER Manager, for more information.
