East Durham LEADER is an exciting initiative that will bring significant benefits for the residents of East Durham's rural communities over the coming years.  It is a mechanism for delivering RDPE (Rural Development Programme for England) funding of around £1 million in East Durham through to 2013.  RDPE strategic priorities in the North East region comprise:

• Bioenergy
• Micro enterprise development
• Natural and cultural assets
• Sustainable communities
• Sustainable farming and forestry

For more information about local priorities in East Durham please click here. Responsibility for allocating the funds rests with the Local Action Group (LAG) which sets the broad direction, and selects / approves projects in partnership with County Durham Partnership and One NorthEast.
