RUCANNE
RuCANNE (Rural Community Action Network North East) is the network of the three Rural Community Action Network members working across the North East - Community Action Northumberland (CAN), Durham Rural Community Council (DRCC), and Tees Valley Rural Community Council (TVRCC). Strategic work across the region is developed and managed by a Steering Group made up of the Directors and Chairs from CAN, DRCC & TVRCC.
RuCANNE is currently prioritising the following areas of activity:
1. Active representation and engagement with the Rural Community Action Network.
2. Developing regional rural networking between agencies and stakeholders.
3. Developing rural support activity at regional level, through engagement with the LEADER programmes, provision of support for community buildings and provision of back office support for rural infrastructure organisations.
4. Developing a regional evidence and database to support rural proofing and for influencing work.
RuCANNE recently hosted the North East Rural Summit at Slaley Hall. Please click here for more information.
Sue Shaw is the part-time regional co-ordinator for RuCANNE. Sue is a freelance Community Development Practitioner and Consultant; she is currently Chair of ACRE, and was president of the Community Development Exchange between 2006 - 2009.
