HISTORY
Durham Rural Community Council was established in 1935 as The Community Service Council for County Durham. At that time Britain was in the depths of the 1930's depression, and over 30% of the workforce were unemployed in County Durham. Since those early days, DRCC has a built up a proven track record of delivering solid, practical and friendly support for both new and existing groups. Effective community development has always underpinned our work, and we still remain true to our original ideals today.
To mark our 75th anniversary in 2010, we produced a special Community News supplement 'The first 75 years!' which looked back through our archives to recall some of the communities and groups that we have assisted. We have a limited number of printed copies available; please click here to send us an e-mail with your contact details if you would like to receive a copy.
